This post is sort of a response to my good friend David’s recent post about drinking too much high-calorie pop.
So I made a quick video to help show what I do with it: Pop Stretching Tip
I tend to go through a fair amount of diet Pepsi while I’m working and eventually, I decided that I should see about reducing the amount I drank, so I moved to a smaller glass, and then, eventually, I began to dilute even that.
After a while of doing for every single glass, it got tiresome, so I mixed one two litre bottle into two two litre bottles, mixing in an even amount of water. And, a while after that, I tried mixing it into three two litre bottles, and I’ve been drinking this combination for about two months now.
I’ve tried similar combinations with root beer and creme soda which I enjoy as well.
Admittedly, the taste is different, but I don’t mind it – the 3x diluted diet pepsi tastes somewhat like ice tea to me.
And yes, for all you people who are going to harp on me who think I don’t drink enough water – I’d advise you to look at this image of my typical liquid intake. I drink plenty of water, and tea as well – I always have gone through lot of fluids.
Anyway, enjoy and maybe give it a try. Let me know how it works out for you.
I admit, I haven’t tried it yet, but I definitely should. I’ll give it a go this weekend and let you know what I think. I guess I should start it at the glass level as well. Maybe 80-20 to start, and more dilution as I go along.
The funniest part was the thought that popped into my head about homeopathy. Does the medical properties get stronger the more you dilute it? lol.
I just don’t like straight water, and can’t drink very in the way of diet products and don’t want to drink down a tablespoon or two of sugar every time I open a beverage…
Thanks for posting this. It was a good reminder. :)
I went almost cold-turkey about 2 years ago. Occasionally I’d slip up at restaurants, but otherwise I stopped buying the stuff in store, etc…
Admittedly all bets were off when I go to South America, where glass-bottled-cane-sugar pop was abundant and 10X more delicious than the swill we’re accustomed to here :)
That said – Pop is a convenient liquid delivery device when one is away from home… it’s easier to find a Coke machine than one that stocks water – or even a fountain.
One thing that helped get me over the sweet-beverage craving has been sports drinks. There’s a bit less sugar in ’em, but unlike just about all sodas – it’s net-effect is hydration, so it will ACTUALLY quench thirst – whereas pop will actually have the opposite effect, making you want more.
